About Cornerstone Baptist Church

Cornerstone Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental Baptist church located at 679 Mast Road, Manchester, New Hampshire. Though the church has a Manchester address, it is located in the Pinardville section of Goffstown. Our pastor, Ed Prescott, and his family began the church in 1999 as church planting missionaries sent out of Victory Baptist Church in Londonderry, New Hampshire. They began the church in the small living room of their apartment on Conant Street on Manchester's west side. The church began to grow, and moved to 131 Amory Street in Manchester. The building, formerly a pharmacy, florist, and convenience store, was renovated for use as a church. It provided space for an auditorium, Sunday School classes, teen room, nursery, small kitchen, and church office. Cornerstone Baptist Church continued to meet there and minister on the west side of the city for nine years.

As Cornerstone was finishing its ninth year of ministry, God was working in the ministry of Calvary Baptist Church in Pinardville. Calvary was founded by Pastor Les Ainsworth in 2002 who was succeeded by Pastor Jerry Remington. After serving the Lord as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church for four years, Pastor Remington followed God's call to serve Him in the Niagara Falls area of New York. After much prayer and seeking the Lord's will, the members of Calvary voted to merge with Cornerstone Baptist. Though the name"Calvary Baptist Church" would no longer be used, the vision that began with Pastor Ainsworth and continued with Pastor Remington has not been lost! Pastor Prescott shares that same vision for a strong, vibrant, loving and caring church to grow in the greater Manchester area. The members of both churches have caught that vision, and are moving forward under the banner of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Greater Manchester!

After merging both churches together, the next decision to be made was which location to meet in. It was decided that 679 Mast Road would be the best place to meet, as it afforded more space, better parking, and more room to grow. We have a nice auditorium with padded pews, a kitchen area, Sunday School rooms, a nursery and a church office. We have 2500 square feet of meeting space, (nearly double that of Amory Street), and central air!

We are continuing to look for a new location for our own building, but we are grateful for what God has provided for us thus far. However, we realize that the building is just a place to meet. Our church is made up of people whose lives are being built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. Every person needs Him. Every family needs Him. Our church's mission statement was given to us by Jesus almost two thousand years ago:

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." (Matthew 28:19-20)

Our mission is to go into all the world and tell people of God's love for them and what Jesus did for them on the cross of Calvary. When people put their faith in Christ, we are to baptize them and continue to teach them the Word of God. Every ministry of our church is designed to win people over to Jesus Christ and strengthen the believer's walk with the Lord. We desire that our church truly exemplify Ephesians 2:20-21, that we are......

".....built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord."

To this end we have Sunday School classes to minister to both children and adults alike. We provide a nursery staffed with loving workers so that parents can come and enjoy each service and be strengthened. We have a youth group to help our teens, and we have fellowships to bring our church family closer together. Our nursing home ministry reaches out to seniors and the infirmed with God's love. The list goes on! There is room for you to be a part of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Come visit us soon!
